they are much more understanding and when I struggle to put words together they fill in the blanks lol. Remember to keep trying! Through putting myself out there despite difficulties communicating ive met a lot of my friends who also have adhd. I get a lot of pent up energy not being able to express myself sometimes so even if its just scribbling or spitballing w clay it seems to help. Another suggestion is doing stuff with your hands (like visual art or things that dont require words) as an outlet for days were you cant properly communicate at all. its like a little warm up :) but yeah in group settings or loud environments it can be really difficult or just impossible to parse what is being said, and its not like completely avoiding these situations is an option so I always try to take small breaks by removing myself, clearing my head for a sec, and coming back. sometimes I find that its easier to verbalize stuff after starting the day reading or writing (like an unedited stream of consciousness so its not such a task). I have this same issue and have been trying to find ways to be better with articulation bc it is an extremely frustrating thing to struggle with. Has anyone had any success or suggestions for overcoming this? It sucks my time, my energy, and I'm absolutely fed up. It's so frustrating that I want to yank my brain out of my head and kick it to the moon. It's usually why I can only speak more when I'm speaking one on one with someone, but if they're a fast talker or are unwilling to repeat what they said, I just can't □♀️ And rarely do I ever feel heard or listened to.Īs for writing text, it's takes way too long, I mean waaaayyyy too long to compose even a small text message, unfortunately it can be hours. It's actually why I don't speak up much in groups, because there's so much talking going on with different people that I'm too busy listening and processing to have enough time to say something. My inability to process quickly what people are saying, and then struggling to figure out something to say. Trying to think more before I speak, also doesn't do any good whatsoever. Talking more in general or with more people does not seem to be helping me. I just know it's wrecking havoc on my life and my ability to communicate with others. I'm not sure if it's only because of my ADHD or it could be some other learning disability. I struggle with consistently being articulate with my words.
